Welcome to Our Home in Florida: A Holiday Recap with Banjo and I
Banjo and I would like to welcome you back to our home in Florida! It has been a wonderful time full of Holiday fun and special events that we want to share with you!
The Holidays were amazing! We still don’t understand everything, but we learned that pretty much everyone celebrates some type of Holiday this time of year. PuppyMom and PuppyDad celebrate Christmas and New Years so that’s what we learned about this year. We decorated the house, had special meals, and exchanged gifts. Actually, Banjo and I just received gifts because we don’t know how to go shopping, but PuppyMom and PuppyDad understood. Banjo had learned to open packages, so he opened most of ours. I helped him on a few of ours.
Some of our favorite gifts were squeaky toys – especially the colorful bouncy eggs. They really squeak and are just the right size for us to grab in our mouths. We also play squeaky fetch with them. That is really fun! It is also hilarious when PuppyDad accidentally steps on one. It surprises him every time. You should see him jump! PuppyMom says it is not his fault because he has really big feet that cover a lot of ground. They are size 15’s. We think that means huge.
We also got special ornaments for the Christmas tree. One showed a picture of a very handsome Pomeranian. At first Banjo thought it was an ornament with his picture on it but after we looked at it long enough we decided it was maybe a picture of our cousin Willie. We are still debating this.
Best of all we each got a Tiny Pup leash for Christmas! We are small dogs and these leashes are just perfect for us. They are just the right length, just the right weight, really pretty and very soft on my delicate fur. PuppyDad says that we look like “a million bucks” when we are wearing our new leashes. We think that means that we look fantastic!
On New Year’s Eve we all watched a movie together waiting for the New Year to start. We learned that the New Year starts in the middle of the night so none of us were surprised when PuppyDad fell asleep on the couch. What was surprising was everyone else fell asleep even with PuppyDad’s snoring.
Banjo has been spending more time with PuppyDad out in the “hangar”. I think that the difference between a hangar and a garage is that a hangar is for airplanes and a garage is for cars. We love our trips in PuppyDad’s 1964 Lincoln convertible car riding safely buckled up in our safety seats.
It also turns out that PuppyDad has a hangar because PuppyMom has an airplane. As experienced flyers – well, actually beginning flyers with one flight under our collars – we can’t wait to fly in Puppy Mom’s airplane. And, of course, we will fly in our safety seats. PuppyMom says we will be just like Amelia Ehrhart and Charles Lindberg. Whoever they are.
As we shared a few weeks ago we went to school.
We have been practicing our commands and understand down, walk, come, heel, sit and free. PuppyMom and PuppyDad are learning, too, and PuppyMom is way better than PuppyDad (but please don’t tell him that I said that). PuppyMom and PuppyDad say that we show our individual personalities when we are training and using the commands. Banjo knows everything and is anxious to please everyone. He makes friends very easily. They say that I am very athletic, know everything and am anxious to please PuppyMom (don’t tell PuppyDad I said that!). I am a bit shy and it takes me a while to make friends. PuppyMom and PuppyDad both say that I could be really good at agility training. I am not sure exactly what that means but it sounds a lot like racing, but with obstacles.
Banjo and I want to learn more commands. Really smart dogs can learn 20-40 commands. If this helps us learn 40 commands that would be lots of fun!
Wresting is still a favorite activity for us. Although Banjo is a little smaller than I am, ex-heavyweight wrestler PuppyDad says that Banjo has evened the score by “learning to use my weight against me.” We both now win about half of the time.
Thank you for joining us on our journey. We have learned so much and had so much fun that we’ll be back to share more of our story next week.
Until then, we wish you health, happiness and joy from Becca Becharming and Banjomin Franklin, Two Small, Small Town Pom Puppies.
